Ode to A Lovely Day in the Park... [15 Apr 2009|05:11pm]
So, I had my first appointment with a vocal therapist today - because I speak too low with can only do bad things for my voice. Nothing's wrong now, I'm just trying to prevent bad things. It was cool. But that meant I was up much earlier than usual, and on the way home I took note of what a lovely day it is! So, Gabriele and I decided to go to the park!

L is for the way you look at me... )

Other things to do today:
-Workout
-Clean flat
-Practice guitar
-Catch up with more photo updates!

Ode to Where the Wild Things Are... [07 Apr 2009|01:32am]
I had a lovely day today. Gabriele didn't work until 5ish, so we just hung around, watched The Jerk with Steve Martin, and laughed and lazed in bed. Also, after my Childrens' book post, I ordered some of them, and Where The Wild Thing Are came today! So, I read it to my Italian, who had never read it before! Then, when he went to work, I took a nap, and then cleaned the flat!

They rolled their terrible roars and gnashed their terrible teeth and rolled their terrible eyes and showed their terrible claws... )

Ode to a Southestern Town in Mexico and a Gig in Central London... [06 Apr 2009|02:41am]
So, Last night, I went out to dinner with my buddies Catherine and Stephanie from university. We ate at Wahaca, a mexican restaurant Stephanie works at in the centre. It's named after a city and region in Mexico called Oaxaca. I know this because I looked it up, because it bugged me, because I KNEW Wahaca was NOT a Mexican word, it's just the Mexican word with English phonetics. So it's pronounced the way it's spelled there. :-D

Then we went to see Gabriele's band, Noisick, play at a pub not far away called the Tower Tavern. It was a good gig, but I'll post those pictures once Gabriele has chosen the ones he likes.

All in all, it was a very fun night, and it was nice to hang out with these gals more outside of school!

Pictures! Glorious Pictures!!! )

Ode to My Childhood, a Fragment... [01 Apr 2009|02:10pm]
[ music | Prince Ali - Aladdin ]

Okie dokie, so, I've been thinking every once in awhile for a long time about this book I used to read when I was a kid, that's really kind of creepy and sad, but I couldn't remember the name. I was pretty sure it was by Maurice Sendak, and upon hearing the news that they made Where the Wild Things Are into a movie, I decided to search for this book.

It's called Dear Mili

"A widow sends her child into the forest to protect her from an approaching war. The girl is led by her guardian angel past menacing cliffs and chasms to the house of Saint Joseph with whom she lives for three days. Before she goes back to the village, Saint Joseph gives her a rosebud as a symbol of her return to paradise; when the girl reaches her home, she finds that the three days have been in reality 30 years."

Have any of you read this?

This lead me to do a post of all the great children's books I past through on the way to finding this one. What are your favorite kid's books???

A very long trip down memory lane, lol... )

Ode to No Singing in Pubs and BBQs... [26 Mar 2009|05:20pm]
So, in order to keep up with my goings-on, I come baring photos of recent events in my life, haha. England has been lovely and sunny for about the past week - with rain here and there now. I went a BBQ at Sam's which was nice and summer-y, Gabriele couldn't go because he was SUPER sick with a cold, and didn't want to risk being out in even slightly cool air. Also included are a few randoms, an outing with my friend from uni, Alex, and I got my hair trimmed today!

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine... )

Ode to Schoolwork... [24 Feb 2009|11:53pm]
Hey y'all, so as most of you will remember, I asked you to help out with my photography project where I had to change people's perceptions of wealth and poverty.

I turned it in today, and my teacher nearly jizzed his pants he loved it so much! And if he gives me a high enough mark, I'll be entered into an international contest called D&AD, where, if I win, I'll win £1000. I won't, but it'd be cool to be entered!

Czech it out... )
